Since the weekend all I’ve been able to think about is colour! The colour in the sky, the colour in my garden, and I’ve been looking at the colours that I’m wearing. On Sunday we had our annual school spring fete in the inner west in Sydney. Fantastic parents from the school get together with the same goal - to raise money for the school so our kids get much needed funding that doesn’t always come from where it should…..

Of course I run the preloved fashion stall for the fete which is based on donations. It was a fun, exhausting day, but the biggest thrill was to see the smiles and energy the kids had celebrating their school and to meet the rainbow of people from the area all there to show their support from the community.

One particular beautiful lady was having a look through my stall and she was so unique. Flamboyantly dressed in floral and gold, with the most amazing elaborate hairstyle I have seen in a long time other than at a black tie ball or the ARIA’s! I couldn’t help but compliment her on her style and ‘that’ hair, and when she was purchasing she thanked me for appreciating her style and we started chatting. It turns out that she was a cancer survivor one year on, and her hair and fashion sense was her rock that has helped her through the gruelling ordeal. She had not only lost her hair, but she said also her mojo. Dressing ‘colourful and bright’ was the one thing cancer couldn’t take from her. It had taken her hair, and she had grown it back in the most fantastic fashion.

Straight after pack up I had to leg it to a close friend’s 50th birthday. I was so inspired by this lady I ratted through my wardrobe to find the brightest pop of colour I could find to dress in for the evening. I entered the room late in a pink fuchsia frill top with my Bassike high waist jeans and yes I had many a compliment myself.

Everyone should colour their world. Try a colour you never normally would, I promise you too will be hearing ‘Oh that colour looks fantastic on you’.
