‘I suppose I have a bit more anonymity than Madonna or Gaga. They’re super up there. I’m more a cult figure’
As I’ve previously blogged, I love a female rock n roll icon. After months of waiting I finally have just heard the new PJ Harvey album and I have to say it was even better than I expected!!! Musically she has created yet another new sound for herself, lyrically again so poetic and so clever; so poignant to everything in the world right now.
As I often do (as you know), my brain ticked over to all the strong female muso’s out there that helped shape my musical tastes, and one lady was a big influencer on me when I was much much younger…..
Oh the original rock chic Ms Debbie Harry. She’s the ultimate rock icon and girl crush for women all over the globe. Her music is ace, her fashion just ace, and as a women ever inspiring!
Founding member of the pioneering new wave punk band ‘Blondie’in the 70s, at a very young age I remember seeing them play on Australia’s very own Countdown music show, which ultimately launched their career internationally with a rockin’performance of ’In The Flesh’.
Her style is just fantastic. She really was the original rock chick, paving the way with her brand of look for so many budding female muse’s from all genres.
We’ve been moving house this week (yuck!!), but in the process I dug out even more vinyl that hasn’t seen the light of day in years. I found Blondie’s ‘Parallel Lines ’which I immediately put on the player! ‘Hangin On The Telephone’is still my fav track from that one.
