3 KEY TRENDS WE LOVED AT MBFW 2017

Well its a wrap on MBFW for another year! This year the parades aligned with the Northern Hemisphere buying season for resort 2018, and all up the verdict was that the shows were a hit with both the public and the power buyers from the OS market! Fashion Week’s globally are considered more important than ever in the scheme of retail success for brands to survive.

Comprehensive collections from Australia’s finest such as Dion Lee, Romance Is Born, Camilla & Alice McCall strutted the runways with overwhelming success.

What were the surprising, fantastic trends we think will survive any skepticism and become part of your new wardrobe collection in the future? Here’s three of our favourites from the week!

DREAMY DRESSES

On and off the runway the free-spirited style of bohemian frocks teamed with everything was a key trend that is enduring the test of time season after season. Designs particularly from Romance Was Born & Alice McCall known for their colour palette had a fresh edged style, with beautiful fabrics, frills, rouche detailing & cuts to keep things interesting.

DENIM FOREVER

Denim is still a major staple which won’t go away anytime soon!

Designers like international fashion darlings Ryan Lobo & Ramon Martin of Tome managed to find new ways to reinvent the jean look post the ‘frayed crop’ which has reached it’s peak in our opinion. Tip!! Upcoming designer label to watch Vale Denim are taking denim cuts to new levels.

POWER SUITING

Oh we are just loving this trend!! A salute to the 80s, the power jacket is back in a big way!!

Designers like hot label Dion Lee who opened MBFW this year slated the trend of oversize style suiting in bright bold colours such as red or the more subdued black. With oversize menswear blazers definitely worth stealing from your beloved, or way chic oversize trouser pants look only fantastic but oh so comfy to wear!!
