I’ve never been one to worry about age. I’ve always felt that if you’re happy with where you’re at in life that’s all that can possibly matter!! I’ve always looked after myself with plenty of good food and exercise (of course I love a vino or martini but who doesn’t), everything in moderation right???

My birthday was over a month ago now and I have to say the age shook me- just a little….All the boxes in my life for the mo are currently ticked, but when filling in a simple survey I was spun off my axis- I’d moved up to the next box!!! You know when they bracket your age into groups, well I’d moved up to my scary box and it was the first time that age became more than a number to me!! It took me back to a fav episode of ‘Sex In The City’ where Carrie had a birthday looming and she had moved up a box when filling in a form for a dating agency. At the time I thought who cares, now I get it….

Thinking about it while on my family holiday I finally got over it!! It’s pretty apparent that women over 40 (notice I’m not saying my exact age…) years old are having a serious moment right now. While the film, fashion, media, well any industry have typically been relatively ageist, a slew of groundbreaking ladies have been breaking down barriers for ladies everywhere. It used to be that many women’s careers faded into oblivion when they approached their fourth decade, but these days, it couldn’t be more different.
