In a week’s time it is my favourite day of the year- Mothers Day!

Unlike a birthday where you’re looking down the barrel at another year older, when Mother’s Day comes around I have a sense of real achievement that I have navigated my two boys through another year in this crazy world we live in happy, healthy & very much loved.

When you become a mother there’s no way in the world you’re prepared for what’s in store for the rest of your life, and how can you be? Sure my first beloved cat Acey, whom my boutique is named after made me understand what its like to have something so dependent on you for their survival, but when this foreign being appears in your life it really opens your mind into your own identity. It teaches you as much about yourself as a person as it does how to change a nappy or how to let go a little to watch them grow to fit in the world where they want to belong!

My youngest son Jed turned 10 this week. I’m so proud of my little blue headed ray of sunshine and how he’s grown into now the almost tween that he is. I must say I’ve had moments where I could plunge into feelings of sadness that now both my boys are full steam ahead to the world of the teenager!
