What do you think fashion’s role is in times like these?

I don’t generally speak about global challenges in my newsletters. I like them to be a space for banter, frivolous wants & a time to smile! I’ve been reading a lot of fashion blogs now questioning designers as to what they think fashion’s role is at times of war and struggles so I thought it was time I acknowledged the elephant in the world - EVERYTHING!!

Fashion royalty Raf Simons & Muiccia Prada stated that fashion must offer something more to the consumer. A sense of possibility. A vision of how things could be. Not as fantasy detached from reality, but as aspiration grounded in humanity.

This is where fashion has always been at its most powerful.

History offers a quiet reminder. During times of great uncertainty, people have often gravitated toward beauty, toward art, toward moments that lift rather than weigh down. In the midst of war, audiences filled theatres not for realism, but for musicals - for something lighter, more hopeful, more human. Not as escapism in a shallow sense, but as a way to endure.

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed at the state of play in the world at the moment get together with friends and family and TREAT YOURSELF! See a movie, a play, go for a run in the park, or listen to your favourite artist, and if you’re like me buy yourself a new special item to feel good and look good in.

This week I’m offering yet another massive discount to you all - 25% off for one week. This will be the last one til mid year. Use the code SMILE25 at checkout.
