What a spectacle it was!!
Well it’s been and gone and the Royal Wedding of Harry & Meghan didn’t disappoint. Marrying into a family whose identity demands the effacement of your own is a tricky venture in the most straightforward of circumstances. Meghan has managed to not only embrace her new identity, but she’s definitely brought her own sense of person to the forefront and it’s obvious her acceptance by her new in-laws is genuine and welcomed!
I went out with friends and family as predicted, to watch on a screen somewhere and drink bubbly. By the time the ceremony started we had half the pub, whom at first was not interested one iota, surrounding us captivated by the grandness. Football normally watched on a Saturday night abandoned!
Perhaps the most exciting fashion-related headline for me was ‘who made the dress’ and oh how Meghan shone with old world glamour in her Givenchy wedding gown. Wondering how you pronounce the French designer name? Givenchy is pronounced with a French “J” sound, a soft “jz” made with the tip of the tongue, almost like saying “shh.” So its “jzhiv-on-shee,” since the French “e” makes a long “o” sound, and the “ch” is a “sh” sound.
Then Meghan appeared in yet another knockout wedding gown for the reception  made by English designer Stella McCartney. Choosing another simple yet oh so stylish gown, she looked like the perfect princess.
Do you have a watershed moment in your life around the corner calling for a new frock or some other special piece?? Sure it may not be for a royal engagement but we can all feel like princesses!!
