After spending a few days shopping & people watching in LA I thought it high time for a bit of culture! I adore the Getty LA, so took the family along Sunset Blvd, through Beverley Hills, past Queen Bey’s palace (yes it was pointed out by our uber driver) to the magical Getty Centre, where to my surprise and delight I not only got to see this architectural and design wonderland resplendent with garden & view, but fate shone with a fashion photography exhibition beckoning me; ICONS OF STYLE: A CENTURY OF FASHION, 1911-2011.
This exhibition mixed photography and fashion in a way that reminded why fashion photography became a ‘thing’, before the world of selfies & online media. In part, the answer lies in the ability of a fashion photograph to reflect two or more worlds: the perfect world inside the frame—where youth, beauty, and luxury reign supreme—and the harsh realities of the world outside it. The best fashion photographs remind us of other works of art or expand the boundaries of the genre, redefining what a fashion photograph is supposed to do, or be. Deeper than we sometimes think- right?
As well as iconic photos such as the Kate Moss at Times Square featured on our blog here, the exhibition was sprinkled with amazing fashion from days gone by. Here’s a few of my fav snaps from Christian Dior circa 1940, an amazing Vionnet from the 1930s & an Alexander Wang suit from early 2000’s.

The striking feeling, I had looking at these fantastic pieces was how timeless they really were, they would make any woman feel like a glamorous superstar in any any decade. You could totally rock these today at your next event.

It got me thinking of, and the amazing time capsule we have of clothing from designers all over the globe from vintage to current season. What ever your personal style, we’ve a unique piece for you!
