FASHION OUT AMONGST IT!
Posted on
Last week, the pedigree of my family and friends was well and truly on show. There were a few more outings than usual in the diary and, honestly, I came away feeling incredibly inspired by the talented people my world seems to orbit around.
I've always known my nearest and dearest have the drive and ability to achieve amazing things, but last week they really outdid themselves.
One of my closest girlfriends and former work colleagues, Blayke Hoffman, produced an incredibly important documentary called Silenced, which opened the Sydney Film Festival at the beautiful State Theatre last Wednesday. It was such a privilege to be there and witness her storytelling on the big screen. The documentary explores how defamation laws can be weaponised to silence survivors and features human rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson, Amber Heard and Brittany Higgins. It's powerful, thought-provoking and absolutely worth watching. Needless to say, I'm beyond proud.
Friday night was all about music as I headed to The Metro with my husband Simon to see his latest signing, Balu Brigada. What a fantastic live band! Great songs, great energy and one of those gigs where you leave thinking, "Yep, these guys are going places."
Then on Saturday it was back to the Film Festival, this time for a documentary created by the brilliant Sofia Coppola about none other than Marc Jacobs. It's an intimate and unconventional portrait of one of fashion's true visionaries, offering a fascinating glimpse into his creative world. As someone who has long admired his work, I absolutely loved it.
Throw in a few sporting wins for my boys, some excellent TV viewing and a business that is firing on all cylinders, and I'd have to call that a SLAM DUNK of a week!
Of course, all these fabulous outings gave me the perfect excuse to plan a few outfits. In fact, I even dug out a vintage Marc Jacobs jacket that I've owned for more than 20 years and had it dry-cleaned especially for the screening. I swear some pieces only get better with age.
Do you have events coming up that deserve a little wardrobe planning? A special dinner, a girls' night out, a weekend away or simply a reason to feel fabulous?
Take a scroll through what's new at aceyacey.com.au. I have a feeling there might just be something you'll adore forever.
