DESIGNER PIECES PERFECT FOR THE CITY OF LIGHTS

Posted on

I just finished watching Season 2 of Emily In Paris whilst on holidays.  I know it’s old news now, but I wanted to throw my thoughts in the ring on the series.
As a starting point I thought I’d look back at my blog on Season 1 to refresh my memory of when I first met Emily & co and I loved it. I was recovering from major foot surgery at the time, and Emily In Paris was the perfect recuperation series to binge. I may have been high on pain relief & would watch anything when I think back, but it passed the time perfectly!
Watching Season 2 in perfect health was hard at first I will admit. I found the story a bit of a mess, and the fashion was just too over the top even for me!! I recently read a spot on  article in the SMH comparing it to watching a live action comic strip where the stars are the latest from Dior, Isabel Marant & Fendi, with a plot that makes Bluey seem Shakespearean!! I relaxed into the series around episode 3, mainly due to being obsessed with the styling of characters Sylvie & Camille- insanely good. Champagne heiress Camille is on trend yet classic, whilst boss lady of Savour marketing agency Sylvie’s style is an inspiration for a more mature woman. She has timeless style that shows us allure doesn’t diminish with age, she own it!
The character Emily played by Lily Collins is no way close to our beloved SITC character Carrie Bradshaw, but with Patricia Field working as a consultant on the show it’s hard not to think that Patricia’s drawing some of her styling inspo from our SITC girls. I find myself shouting to my bored co-viewer husband Simon, ‘There’s no way Carrie would wear that!!’.
Whilst I’m not learning many life lessons from Emily In Paris, I am getting takeaways from new trends and how to wear them! If the stupid pandemic is in a somewhat stable holding pattern come July, I’m off to the City Of Lights with some close friends to celebrate a significant birthday & I will be looking up some of the places documented on the show for some dining and shopping!
